Katie Beckett Health Insurance Plan

There is a state health insurance program, in all 50 states, covering disabled children up to 18 years old. The program began in 1982. It covers the disabled child regardless of income depending on the individual state, but an insurance premium might happen in some cases because of the family income. It allows the disabled child to receive Medicaid. The waiver program was started to help disabled children leave the institutions and hospitals to receive medical care at the family home. In order to participate in the program, there are medical criteria to meet and, some states may have a waiting list.
